How to upload music on YouTube

Recently YouTube, despite being a website dedicated to sharing videos, has become a community for people to upload music. After loading the desired music, it will be accessible to everyone in the world. Unfortunately, YouTube does not recognize extensions of common audio files like .mp3, .mp4, .aac, among others. Therefore, you can not upload your tracks directly from your computer to the servers on the YouTube site. Instead of doing that, you must first convert the audio files into a video that YouTube can recognize.

Step 1

Open Windows Live Movie Maker or the video editing program of your choice. Add a picture for your movie by clicking on the “Add Photos and Video” option. Now look for an image on your computer that is related to the song you are uploading. For example, if you are about to upload a song from your own band, a good idea would be to use a picture of it playing.

Step 2

Click on the “Add music” tab in the taskbar. Find the song you are going to upload and then import it. Choose the “Adjust with music” option to make sure the video will play for the duration of the sound file you have chosen. Choose the bit rate you think will be needed for the file and export the video as a .wmv file (Windows Media Video) using your video encoding program. You should bear in mind that the higher the quality of the file, the longer it will take to upload to the YouTube servers.

Step 3

Open your web browser and enter the YouTube site. From the home page, click on the “Upload video” link. In the pop-up window that will appear, you should look for the video that you just created and start uploading it. The loading process will start automatically.

Step 4

Label your songs by placing keywords in the blank field that appears after completing the upload. Choose the words that refer to the song, such as the name of the artist and the title of the song. This will make it easier for those who enter the site to find your music. Share your video with friends and family by clicking on the “Share” button below the video. In this way, you will get a link so that you can copy and paste it into email messages or Facebook profiles.
